SEQUOIA TREES

The largest types of trees in the world are seqouia trees, found in Kings Canyon National Park. I saw the 3 largest trees by volume on my visit there-The General Sherman, The General Grant, and The President. They are all Sequoia trees. The General Sherman and the General Grant are fenced around so you can't touch them, however the president treee is not. The General Sherman and General Grant are fenced around because when so many people step on the soil, the dirt would slowly erode away hurting the roots of the tree, when hundred of people step on that soil a day, so they decided to keep the trees fenced. You can see the trees 360 degrees around. However, you can only see the president tree if you do a certain 3 mile hike in the Giant Foreest, so they do not keep the president tree fenced because a lot less people come to see it, probably because it is on a hike and it is the third largest, not the first or second largest.

Sequoia trees in general are very large in volume. When you do the Giant Forest hike, you really get to see a lot of Sequoia trees. It is very fascinating. Now keep in mind that Seqouia trees are not Redwood trees. If you scroll down, you will find a picture comparing Redwood trees to Sequoia trees. As you probably noticed in the picture, Redwood trees have are thiner but taller, whereas Seqouias have biger trunks and bodies and live longer, however are shorter than redwoods, though still very tall. Redwood trees have probably broken records for tallest trees, however seqouias are known for being the largest in volume.
